Jennifer's Bodies 2017 Official Selection - Jo Osborne's Requital

So happy to announce that I shall be screening fellow Scot, Jo Osborne's new short Requital, a beautifully macabre look at betrayal and the consequences that can arise. 

Jo is going to be there to introduce the film, as well as partake in the Women in Horror panel as well.  After flying over to the States for Hannah's Ax Wound festival as well, you know I'm going to be squee'ing over her chilling with Hannah!  Yay! 

Obviously, I am always happy about women in horror films, but when it comes to Scottish women in horror, of course I am all the nerdier!  Haha.  Requital is clearly a very personal film, what I love even more is that Jo started the whole Love Hurts Film Festival because of this film.  The festival is happening in Glasgow on the 14th February 2017 and the line-up is sounding ace!  You can find out more information here.  :) 

Jennifer's Bodies 2017 Poster and Where to Buy Tickets!

You can now buy tickets online at YAPSODY otherwise it will be £5 on the door.   Tickets are £4 but there is a 75p booking fee added on top for purchasing through Yapsody, that way the full £4 goes to charity.  If you would rather just buy on the door, if you message me on jennifersbodies@gmail.com and I can keep tickets back for you that way as well. :)  All money from ticket sales will be donated to Unite to Care.   :)

Jennifer's Bodies 2017 - Event/Venue Details

This year's festival shall feature a mixture of feature/shorts as well as a Women in Horror panel which should be a blast!  If you are a woman working in horror/have done horror work before and would like to be involved in the panel, I would love to hear from you.  Just drop me an email at jennifersbodies@gmail.com and I shall get back to you asap.  :)

Jennifer's Bodies 2017 - Event and Submission Details!

Greetings horror darlings!  So it's that time of year again and Women in Horror Month is soon to be upon us.  This year Jennifer's Bodies shall be hosted in Glasgow at Blackfriars, a wicked little venue that is the perfect setting for all things horror.  I was actually there for the Glasgow Horror Festival in October and it was ace!

Sooooo, submissions....

Your feature film/short MUST be either directed, produced or written by a woman.  

• All submissions must obviously be horror (doh!), be it psychological, zombie, ghost, revenge, slasher...as long as it is horror~ific...and if you're not sure, by all means, please do get in touch!  I also love haunting sad films that ooze melancholy and many of these can still be deemed horror of sorts.  It's all subjective to our own personal ideas I guess.  :)  

• For submissions of shorts and features, if you could email me links to a private Vimeo/YouTube account with the password for me to view.  If I then accept your submission for this year's festival, I will require a high-quality downloadable copy.   

• Once you have been accepted into Jennifer's Bodies 2017, if you have any campaign materials then please to bung them in the post to me.  :) 

• There is no charge for submissions. 

• I will consider a feature/short that is not directed by a woman IF it is both written and produced by a woman and has a strong female lead performance.

• Every year I screen a film directed by a MAN that has basically taken on board all of the principles of Women in Horror Month.  Such as Jose Pedro Lopes and Jeremiah Kipp; both previously screened at Jennifer's Bodies, due to their strong female empowered films.  If you are a woman and you feel that you know a guy who embodies everything that we stand for, get them to drop me a line.  

• All submissions are due by January 24th 2017 and a full line-up shall be posted on January 31st 2017.

Jennifer's Bodies 2015 Line Up - Short Films Category - Luchagore Productions Gigi Saul Guerrero's El Gigante, Based on the Shane McKenzie Graphic Novel, Muerte Con Carne!

 At last year's event, I got to introduce people to Mexican director Gigi Saul Guerrero when I showed her ABC's of Death entry M is for Matador, as well UK premiered her outstanding Dia De Los Muertos, part of Lex Ortega's Mexico Barbaro anthology. 

I was so fucking stoked and excited when I discovered Gigi, I even got my makeup artist Hayley Tinline, to do my face all sugar skull'ed up for day one.  :)

Anyhoooooo.....it is with great pleasure that I will be once again screening a film from Gigi, and her partners in crime at Luchagore Film, Raynor Shima and Luke Bramley with El Gigante.  This time with an added Mexican flavour....Mr Shane McKenzie...writer of the original graphic novel Muerte Con Carne, and a fucking mad genius of twisted taco~ness!!  

Back during last year's Women in Horror Recognition Month, I interviewed the lovely lady herself, and now that it's been a year, I feel it's time to speak to her once more.  Do you have any questions you would like me to pose to this lovely lady?  Fire them over to jennifersbodies@gmail.com.  :)

Jennifer's Bodies 2015 UPDATE!

Howdy!

Okay, sorry for the late update.  Had a bit of a personal nightmare over the past couple weeks as those on my FB will have seen, and then been helping with cleaning and moving and stuff....things all a bit chaotic!!  Fucking typical...right at the start of the month where I have fucking shitloads to do.

Anyhoo...for those of you who tuned into the Horror Happens Radio Show this past Tuesday will have heard me say, Jennifer's Bodies is going to be the first weekend in March.  Why is this I hear you say?  :)  Due to the delightful Miss Tristan Risk being over in Scotland at the start of March for some pre-production on my fellow Scot, Andy Stewart's fourth short, Redacted...I decided to bleed into March with Jennifer's Bodies and host it the first weekend in March, when Risky is here.

Also, it turns out getting a venue in Glasgow during February is a bit of a fucking nightmare due to both Frightfest at the end of the month, and the Glasgow Film Festival, which is on ALL month....so they're all charging a fortune and stuff.  And then when I did find somewhere that was looking to be pretty sweet, I realised it was just too damn small!!  Haha. 

I have almost gotten everything to completely confirmable status, and in true Jennifer fashion, stumbled into meeting more incredible people who can further help promote Women in Horror, Jennifer's Bodies and Scottish film in general.  Due to where it is, things take a little longer to go through, but should be able to give our full details on Monday.  I just don't wanna jinx it.  But the place where it is, is THE perfect fucking place.  Like, to the max!  :)

Jennifer's Bodies 2015 - Accepting Submissions of Features and Short Films NOW!!

So, after a successful 2 day event in Edinburgh in February 2014, Jennifer's Bodies is back for 2015, this time to be hosted in Glasgow.  Submissions are now open and here are the lines to guide you.

I have already pre-selected a number of films personally, so if you know yourself to be one of my personally selected films, you don't need to submit again.  If you're not sure, just gimme a holler!!

Soooooo......much like every year.....

• When emailing me, if you could include a basic synopsis of your movie, along with any campaign materials such as film stills, posters and trailer etc.
• Once you have been accepted into Jennifer's Bodies 2014, when posting out your DVD, if you could also include any campaign materials in hard copies, such as postcards etc. for your film. This way I can display them at the event and it makes it easier for people to remember the names of all the things they've seen. 
• Also if you have any other promotional items such as t-shirts, patches and what not that you'd like to send, I will be doing a giveaway and raffle at the event, with all funds raised to be donated to Beagle rights charity Unite to Care.  Also my boobs like to put your tees on them too.  They likes the coverage, moooahahahaha.  So T-SHIRTS for Morleysaurus BOOB coverage = GOOD!!  

• There is no charge for submissions however if you would like to make a donation towards helping put the festival together, then that is most appreciated.  If you would like to help out with some of the costs, including that of advertising and making up a programme, then please let me know.  I do everything for Jennifer's Bodies myself and the costs do build up, so any help I can get is fab!! :)
