Due to personal reasons, for the time being, I shall be celebrating Women in Horror Month online, discussing the work of the incredible women I have encountered over the years and looking to what the future looks like for women working in horror. Jennifer xo

"Jennifer’s Bodies is a roving annual festival of female-helmed horror movies and part of Women In Horror Recognition Month, an international assortment of affiliated events organised partly to highlight just how much women can and do contribute to the genre outwith the typically accepted factors of tits, ass and mezzosoprano screaming." Teaser Poster and Line Up for Mexican Anthology Flick México Bárbaro Released, and it Features TWO GIRLS....the Insanely Talented Gigi Saul Guerrero, and Loretta Flores!!

8 Mexican directors unite to bring you tales of the most brutal, and shocking Mexican traditions and legends to life.

It is with absolute delight that I am able to share with you the poster for up and coming Mexican anthology - México Bárbaro.  Featuring a line up of some of the most bad ass Mexican directors working in horror today (including Jorge Michel Grau, the director of one of my personal favourite foreign language films as of late - We Are What We Are), what makes this project extra cool, is the inclusion of the insanely talented Gigi Saul Guerrero!

Gigi is proving herself to be a force and talent to be reckoned with, and it's nice that Lex Ortega, the man behind this awesome project, totally realises this!

(Pictured from left to right - Ulises Ulicardo Guzman Reyes, Jorge Michel Grau, Lex Ortega, Edgar Nito, Gigi Saul Guerrero, Isaac Ezban.)

México Bárbaro brings to life stories that form a part of our culture, and even some that have haunted our nightmares since childhood, which took away our innocence. The boogeyman, trolls, ghosts, creatures, Aztec sacrifices, and of course our beloved traditions such as Day of the Dead immerse in urban and rural stories.

México Bárbaro has 8 visionary directors, from downtown, north and south of the country, including mexican residents who live in other countries. All have different life experiences that will give a unique narrative to each of these haunting stories.

Take a little peek at the trailer for Gigi's segment Día de los Muertos and let me know what you think.  I've seen the full thing and it's fucking amazing.  It's gore~geously shot, acted and directed, and the cinematography is outstanding.  Not a bad little production to be helmed by a 23 year old.

To keep up to date with this super sweet anthology go drop by and LIKE the Facebook page, and for more information on everyone involved and their previous work, check out good old IMDb. :)

Edited to add, it features TWO girls!!  The main man behind the project Lex, contacted me to say that it also features Laurette Flores, pictured second left.  Look for a separate feature on Laurette on this blog asap. :)
